Free community event invites all rising kindergarteners to the Museum for a cram session

Discovery Place Kids Huntersville

Discovery Place Kids-Huntersville is helping young learners get ready for their first day of school! At Countdown to Kindergarten, soon-to-be kindergartners and their families will visit a mock classroom, meet local kindergarten teachers, practice scissor safety and talk with multiple community partners.

This FREE community-wide festival celebrates your child’s entrance into formal education with hands-on, skill-building activities and community resources. Explore interactive and skill-building activities such as:

  • Tutoring and educational resources from our community partners
  • After school and extracurricular activities
  • Setting up a college savings program with NC 529 Plan
  • Public safety and school safety demonstrations with Huntersville police, fire and rescue
  • And much more!

Countdown to Kindergarten is Friday, August 16, from 4-7 p.m. All family members of rising kindergarteners are welcome to join the free festivities.

Discovery Place Kids-Huntersville’s exhibit spaces will be open for play, but due to increased crowd volume, experiences are expected to be busy that evening. If you are looking for other ways to help your child prepare for their first day of school, check out Discovery Place Kids-Huntersville’s line up of August programs.
